In the midst of this successful career, his life took a new turn when he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). The unexpected diagnosis turned his life upside down. From a hectic everyday life as an international business leader, he suddenly found himself on the other side – as a patient in need of support.

Home care quickly became an invaluable feature that helped him maintain his independence and quality of life. Through care staff, he was able to continue living his life, albeit on new terms.

Seeing the System's Gaps

At the same time, the new role as a care recipient gave Björn a unique insight into how the system worked – and where it failed. He saw shortcomings in care: a lack of understanding of the needs of people with disabilities, and a noticeable lack of modern digital tools.

Particularly, he reacted to the absence of an effective planning system in everyday life for both users and staff. Schedules and planning were often handled with manual, time-consuming methods that created stress for staff and uncertainty for those who needed help.

From Frustration to Innovation

This insight gave birth to a strong desire to change. With his background as a civil engineer in IT and many years of experience driving innovation, Björn knew he had the ability to make a difference. Instead of accepting the situation, he began sketching a solution – something that could fill the void he experienced every day in home care.

From this frustration, the idea of Caire grew. It was not a business idea born in a conference room, but a solution that took shape directly from Björn's own experiences. With a genuine calling to improve care, he founded Caire – an AI-driven scheduling platform for home care, designed to solve exactly the problems he himself had encountered.
